Spiralchain fans, it’s been a long, long wait since Boltsender came out in January of 2018. As those of you current in the reading know, our heroes are in a very messy place at the conclusion of that book… and the writing on Bloodmender (Book 7) has been challenging. Not only are we barreling towards the epic conclusion of the series in Book 8, but I’ve also been working hard to tackle a few complex issues of identity that resonate with some of the characters in Bloodmender in a way that is both respectful to those complex topics and in-keeping with the lore of our universe.

But I am extremely thrilled to be able to announce that the draft for Bloodmender is now far enough along that we can proceed to pre-orders!

After weighing the options for pre-order crowdfunding platforms over the past few months, and watching the fight by Kickstarter employees to unionize, I have reversed my previously announced decision to go to IndieGoGo. We have used Kickstarter for the campaigns for every book since Mindshaper, and the employees of Kickstarter are not at this time advocating to boycott the platform… so we will stick with Kickstarter.

But hey, while I have you here… let’s see about another announcement!

The long-gestating, long-developing, long-talked-about Spiralchain Board Game is finally happening! After many, many rounds of playtesting and some intense graphic design work by series artist Andrew Aguirre, the game is just about ready to launch.

While the game will be printed and distributed by the amazing team at The Game Crafter, I have decided that a crowdfunding campaign will give us the chance to, with a little luck, develop an expansion (or maybe several!) for the game… and I love expansions!

Oh, heck… what if we go for broke and make three announcements today? Would that be crazy? I think so… but I am ready for some crazy. It’s 2020!

Do you know what’s special about 2020? It’s the year that the 8 book Spiralchain series was originally slated to be finished. When my year+ hiatus between Boltsender and Bloodmender threw us off, I knew that I was likely going to have to push the release of Wraithtender, the final book, off to 2022… and that was super frustrating.

So what if I were to tell you that… it doesn’t have to be that way?

The Kickstarter for Wraithtender will go live September 20, 2020. The book is projected to release in SPRING 2021… but right now the plan is for the ebook version of Wraithtender to drop BY THE END OF 2020.

Yes, you read that right. You are going to get TWO Spiralchain books in 2020. It’s going to be an intense challenge to get it done… but it’s going to get done. As the finish line to the series looms, I am increasingly invigorated… and I can’t wait for you to reach the end with me.

Besides… I’m pretty sure that if I made you wait 2 years for Book 8 after the last page of Book 7, I’d have a riot on my hands. 🙂

There are sure to be more announcements throughout the year… and I am hoping to be a more regular presence online in terms of communicating great things happening behind the scenes with Spiralchain. This is THE YEAR, my friends.
