Progress Report

The sequel to Gatemaker, Mindshaper, is now 85% complete. In first draft form it just crossed the 160,000 word mark today and has 5 chapters and an epilogue left to be written. That being said, I think it’s time for a pretty comprehensive global timeline update.

September 1, 2013: The final price decline on Gatemaker as an eBook will go into effect on all eBook retailer sites. The book will live at $3.99USD for the remainder of its digital life. Shortly after this date, Act II of Mindshaper will go out to the advance reader team.

September 15, 2013: The first “preview” for Mindshaper will be released on spiralchain, net (This will be a Taleflash, a single scene set between Gatemaker and Mindshaper). Others will follow.

October 1, 2013: The first draft of Mindshaper will be complete. Shortly after this date, Act III of Mindshaper will go out to the advance reader team. The cover for the hardcover and ebook editions will be commissioned from Andrew J. Aguirre.

October 15, 2013: The second “preview” for Mindshaper will be released on spiralchain.net (this will be the back cover/inside flap description of the book).

November 1, 2013: The first pass on the second draft of Mindshaper will be complete. National Novel Month begins, as will work on the first draft of the third book.

November 15, 2013: The third “preview” for Mindshaper will be released on spiralchain.net (this will be a Taleflash, a single scene set between Gatemaker and Mindshaper).

December 1, 2013: All feedback will be collected from the advance reader team and used to make final second draft adjustments to Mindshaper.

December 15, 2013: Final “preview” for Mindshaper will be released on spiralchain.net (this will be the book cover and wallpapers). Hardcover proofs will be ordered to ensure the hardcover can go on sale on time this year. Pre-orders for personalized copies will open on this day (books will not reach you until mid-January if you pre-order).

January 1, 2014: Mindshaper goes on sale through (at minimum–more day-of-release distribution is possible but not guaranteed) Amazon for Kindle and Lulu for Hardcover, iOS, and Nook. Price TBD.

There you have it. For those of you who are eager, mark your calendars. For those of you who like to be surprised… forget you read this! 🙂
